I am a graduate of Stony Brook University with a B.A. in both English and History. During my time in school, I also earned an English Language Arts teaching certification, tutored at the university's writing center, and served as a teaching assistant for two English classes. This fall, I am planning to attend graduate school. I have been a student teacher in Dix Hills, New York, where I taught Common Core English classes to students in the 7th, 9th, and 11th grades in Half Hollow Hills Central School District. In addition, I was an educator in Long Island at the local aquarium and museum.I tutor in various subjects related to English, including writing, grammar, and test prep for the SAT, GRE, AP exams, and the Regents. I enjoy helping students with writing the most because I feel that it is important in all fields--I focus not just on academic papers, but on personal statements and college application essays as well. All students should be comfortable communicating in writing, no matter the subject or format. I also tutor on SAT subjects outside of English, especially math and American history. The students' needs are my first concern, so I am very open to changing my style of teaching or lesson plans to help them learn better. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy drawing, writing, and reading, and I love projects that give me to opportunity to use all of my interests.
